The Victory in Love

                                                     I married an Angel!

Wishes and Successes

When finally, the war was over, it was time for me to decide what I wished to take up on as my career. I had considered the option of becoming a journalist before deciding to run for political office. But when my brother died, my father began to pin his hopes on me and he convinced me to follow a political career. And so my successes began:
1946  -  I was elected to Massachusetts's Eleventh Congressional District

1952 - I was elected to the U.S Senate

And, on a tuesday November 8, 1960, I was elected President of United States!

My work continues through others

"You are a big inspiration for me I learned how to run for office and make public speeches from you. I agree with the way you handled the Cuban Missile Crisis. President Kennedy, you admitted to lack of missile gap unlike Eisenhower. You said that the US was way ahead of the Soviets in the developing missiles. This made Khrushchev (The Soviet leader)look bad. And this angers Cuba a lot especially, after our failed attempt with the Bay of Pigs. Castro starts to buddy up with the Soviets a lot more. Khrushchev doesn't want to see the US take Cuba down. So he offers to arm Castro with weapons. The US had the Soviet Union surrounded with missile sites and the Soviets wanted at least one site near the US. If they could get Cuba they would have their "one place". A U2 planes discovered installation sites being built in Cuba by the soviets. You called together the National Security Council, DOD, etc. to discuss what to do with this. You came up with three options. 1)Invade Cuba-Bay of pigs was a failure. 2) Air Strike- were afraid if we did do that, they would shoot our planes 3) Leave it alone. No one was really satisfied with those three option so we decided to Quarantine AKA Blockade Cuba. The Cuban Missile Crisis scared everyone to death; we were on the verge of nuclear war. In 1963 the US and the Soviet Union Signed a nuclear Test Ban Treaty which banned the testing of atomic weapons.
What I like about your work was the fact that you were very committed to your job, you went out and got advise from your brother Bobby, your father the former Ambassador, your wife, and former President's. You saw the future with you as President and you kept your head forward to the future.

What is still relevant isn't civil rights because you didn't really do much for civil rights except during the end of Segregation (The Little Rock Nine) and the drafting of the Civil Rights act of 1964 which passed under Lyndon Johnson after your assassination who took credit for it. Putting a man on the moon before the decade was out challenged us to win the race to space, and today it has also challenged us once again to put a man on Mars before this decade is out. "

I hope I help you,

Christopher McCowan

P.S A great fan sent me this letter as a symbol of his friendship. To him I  thank him for all his time and dedication.

War time, hard times!

After I finished my graduation I joined navy with my brother Joe on the nation's call in response to the World War II.  My brother was appointed as a flyer and sent on missions in Europe, where he was murdered during a mission. I was appointed at a post of Lieutenant on the Patrol Torpedo boat PT-109 which was deployed on South Pacific to stop the enemy ships from delivering food and ammunitions to Japanese soldiers. On 2 of August of 1943 a Japanese destroyer attacked us, I tried to save PT-109 but I couldn't help and some members of my team were killed. I were hit on my back where I had old injuries.

Profiles in Courage: a revelation in the American literature

Today I will speak of another talent I have besides politics: writing.
In the beginning I wasn´t very excited to write a book, but then my wife and my family convinced me to do it. This was a totally surprise to me because I wasn´t expecting much success. I would say that “Profiles in Courage” is like a flower because it seems something that it won´t flourish and then creates a wonderful, beautiful and fantastic work. So if you are interested in it (and I take the opportunity to do some advertising...) buy or read my book because it will bring you an advantage: you will become more clever in political terms. Trust on me!

I "read" and recommend...

As we are now talking about writing, I decided to not only share with you the book I wrote, but also one that was written in my honor. I must admit that what caught my attention was the fact that he had been lodged in a trailer format, which is quite original and creative. In addition to describing my life, it also contains illustrations and quotes that I spoke in my speeches. I hope you enjoy as much as me!

Just a simple opinion

Knowing the situation that Portugal is living I just like to say that the government and all the parliament have to be very careful about what you will decide, first you have to think about all the portuguese people because their future is in your hands. Be careful!

At university again

My graduation at Harvard's university in 1940. What a day! One of the most happiest in my life.
As you may think I wasn't a brilliant student I was normal. I like to practice lots of sports such as golf, basketball, tennis, football, etc. Before I go to Harvard's university I've studied in Choate. I wish the same luck to all the students and especially to group 4 of english class. I hope they will go to a good university and take a great course as well!

Reflexions

“A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.” John F. Kennedy

Today I decided to share with you one of my quotes. The message that I want to pass to all of you is that after my death and after so many presidents, my motto continues alive. People still believe in my work and they remember me with lots of joy and admiration.
So, don´t give up of your dreams and believes. Maybe you can make the difference if you believe in your capabilities, and you can change people´s acts with your words.

FRIENDSHIP connects people :)

Me and my best friend Lem Billings

The three brothers: Robert, Ted and Me

Martin Luther King was also a friend of mine
and we fought for the same cause: civil rights

I identify myself a lot with these people because they supported me throughout my life, having been present at my best and worst moments. One such example is my best friend, Lem was the decorator of my house and he was gay. I especially respect him for that, not being afraid to take risks and to assume in society.
Second, comes my brothers, we seem to be the three little pigs who never large and always go together. Interestingly, all of us follow the path of politics, but only I've become president:)
And last, but equally or more important than the others appears Martin. He was a great human being as a father, husband and man. He touched people with his words and encouraged them to act. If the world is currently less racially prejudiced him what we owe. Thank you all, I will never forget you.
P.S  I tried to get photos of us both Martin, but almost all you show up with my brothers. Too bad, huh?

Woman´s Day - Celebrate it with me :)

On 8th March we celebrate Woman´s Day, and so I am going to talk about my wife Jackie Kennedy. She liked to practice horse riding, reading, poetry, and especially she was an expert in fashion and decoration.
In the 60´s, she became an activist, a modern woman and an icon to the world. She knew how to impress and how to dress.
Everybody loved her and all women wanted to be like her.
This picture describes Jackie as woman and what she thought about them (Women).
She dreamt that one day, all of them would become independent of men, revolutionaries and not this: “What is sad for women of my generation is that they weren't supposed to work if they had families. What were they going to do when the children are grown - watch the raindrops coming down the window pane?”
So, here  I present you some pictures of her.
SHE WAS:

Mother

Wife

First Lady

And Woman, of course!

If I were still alive... How would I be?

Nowadays, I would be 93 years old.
Note: If you are not recognize me, check my hair because I think it is the only thing that would still the same...
